June is here. Things grow apace, but the weather remains a bit dicey. However, Martha's Vineyard West is never deterred from adding to the wonders of the back yard. Fish have been returned to the circulating pond and a new greenhouse has arrived and been put in place. A visit to Macminnville's Saturday Market for the garden fair resulted in the purchase of this greenhouse. I bought the display item from Solargems and the staff delivered it at the end of show and installed it as well. The day was really rainy and some challenges were met in getting the one piece greenhouse over the back yard fence, and past the existing garden shed. As the skies teemed, the crew did a trench, brought in the benches and discussed the best 'ground cover' for the interior. That ground cover arrives today from our local Greenlands composting center. I can hardly wait to plant something in there, but I hope that it is mostly an outside growing season from here on in.
You may notice the weekend special for June 11,12,13. If so, and if you want to spend some time in wine country, this is the weekend! $100 for two persons including continental breakfast--a result of a cancellation. The proprietor might just be induced to take you for a visit to Vista Hills Vineyard on Saturday or Sunday if you wish. Great wines, beautiful view and exemplary staff.
June finally a bit promising
